What is Senior Connection?

Senior Connection is an activity based program that offers seniors from our

congregation and community an opportunity to come together for fun and fellowship.

Senior Connection meets every Wednesday between 10:30 and 1:00 p.m. offering a variety of activities of particular interest to seniors. We focus on enjoying fellowship with like-minded Christians. We exercise from chairs, eat, and participate in a Bible Study. People choose what interests them and participate accordingly. Additionally we host monthly Sunday lunches and informational programs as well as special interest groups.

Mission Statement

The mission of “Senior Connection at Oak & Vine” is to nourish physical, spiritual, and social relationships in a Christian environment connecting seniors within First Presbyterian Church and reaching out to others in our community as we model Christian values by serving God and each other.

How did Senior Connection Get Started?

Our congregation at First Presbyterian has many members that are seniors in age, but very active in spirit. We are a Christ-centered community of faith living in the grace of God and celebrating each and every day! We learned that we are not the only aging church in Decatur and that more and more seniors are moving to Decatur. Statistics show our community is aging because we offer so many wonderful amenities for retirement. People come here to work and decide to stay! We decided to build on our strengths and build a program where seniors could join in and feel at home.
